The Saddest Day in my Marriage… Thus Far

Published by mdmnore88 at 10:44 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Last night while driving home from work I got a call from Hubs.

“Hello,”  I said.  Actually pretty surprised he called since I was on my way home from work.

“Hey Babe,”  he responded.  Then nothing.  Not a peep for at least 5-7 seconds.

“What’s wrong,”  I demanded.  Every bad and worried thought came rushing into my head.  What if something happened to one of my family members.  What if something happened to the cats.  DID HE LOSE ANOTHER JOB? AHHHHHH

“I’m just still in disbelief,”  he finally replied.

“What the hell happened?”  I was getting antsy now.  I love good gossip and I wanted the dish.

“The Broncos fired Coach Shanahan .”

“What!  Not Shanny!  What are we supposed to do now?  How can we ever watch another Bronco game?  Wasn’t he the coach for like 15 years?”  I replied trying to catch my breath joining in my husbands astonishment.  If I wouldn’t have been at a stop light I would have swerved into oncoming traffic causing a 7 car pile up on Eastern Avenue .

“Actually he was with the Broncos for 21 years, but not as head coach.  He started as an assistant.”

“What the F***”

“Exactly how I feel,”  Hubs said, shocked and saddened.

“Well the Broncos could always hire Coach Billick or Coach Cowher .” I said and finalized the call.  I was pulling in the driveway and we could discuss this once I made it into the house.

I know none of you know this, but my husband is from Denver and a huge Bronco fan.  He moved to Maryland in 1992.  I am a Baltimorean through and through.  After we met and moved in together I forced him to my neck of the woods.  I never was a big football fan, but living with a fanatic sorta forces you to join in on the fun.  His Broncomania has rubbed off on me to say the least, but I do still love my home team, the Baltimore Ravens.  Needless to say news like this is enough to shatter the happiest of Bronco-loving homes.  We are sitting, waiting for who is the next in line for the coaching position.

I wonder how this will affect my sex life?

I think you might have to find a battery powered partner for a while (and stock up on those batteries!). Hubs is going to be on pins and needles for months, if not a DECADE wondering about not only WHO the replacement coach is, but how it will affect his team and their chances at the Big Game for years to come!
